OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!1! (ha, 4G)

Maybe you've seen this before, maybe not. But it's the latest (and greatest?!!) phone from HTC, the EVO 4G. And it's coming to Sprint. Yes, yes, yes. It would be nice if it was available around April 1st (when I'm eligible for the $150 off a new phone) but summer isn't that far away. You may be wondering about specs. How does a 1ghz Snapdragon grab ya? Or maybe dual cameras, a 8 megapixel one on back AND a 1.3 megapixel camera on front (you know for video conferencing). What about a 4.3 inch screen? Maybe HDMI output at 720p will tickle your fancy? It's got it all, and some other stuff. Oh and it has the latest version of Android, 2.1. So now it's just waiting for it to come out. Then I could upload HD movies from my phone to the blog. Won't that be exciting (that was sarcastic)?

We're Still (expletive deleted) Alive!!!!1!

Warning. Warning. This guy likes to use naughty words. But in his defense, it's needed. And it's pretty funny. On a related note, I read an article from Car and Driver and they claimed that the brakes can almost always overcome the engine. They tested this theory with a Camry, an Infiniti G37 convertible (not sure why it was a convertible, maybe it was a nice day), and a Roush Stage 3 Mustang. Each time the brakes overcame the engine, even from 100 mph. It did take 3 time longer (about 900 feet) to stop in the Mustang at that speed, but that also has 540 hp (last I checked the Prius wasn't close to that). And interestingly enough, the Infiniti had something (that apparently a lot of cars have) that when you hit the brakes, the throttle gets closed. Which makes sense, unless it closes every time you lightly touch the brakes. Then it seems a little ridiculous. Anyway, I figured this video is more fun than reading the article. If you really want to read the article,http://editorial.autos.msn.com/article.aspx?cp-documentid=1133527&icid=autos_1354&GT1=22017#atoolb

Dirt

Saw this on the FTW blog today. Yeah, it's 10 minutes long but you really need to see the sweet footage starting around the 2:40 mark. Let me give you a taste, 3 wheel go-cart things, 4 wheel go-carts, 6 wheelers tearing through rivers and going through trees (and the dude kind of looks like Hurley (from Lost, like you didn't know)). If that isn't enough to make you watch this, I don't know if we can be friends.

Misery and Gin

Merle Haggard, Misery and Gin. First heard this song a few months ago (who knows, I probably heard it before and never paid attention) when we were watching "Bronco Billy". It's an old Clint Eastwood movie. In the movie (don't worry I won't give away too much of the story) Clint and his group go to a bar and Merle Haggard is singing this song. So, take a listen and you should probably just download it for 99 cents (the album version is better but I couldn't find it on Youtube). If nothing else, watch it for the clothing.

Are you sure Hank done it this way?

It's the same old tune, fiddle, and guitar. Where do we take it from here? Good question. And I don't think Hank done it this way. I hope you enjoy a little Waylon.

New Look

So I thought it would be nice to update the look of the blog (is it just a coincidence that I decided to do this today? hmmm. . .). I'd hate for it to get tired looking. And along with that, I'll post more (yeah, I've said that before). Probably starting tomorrow though.

Visit Dubai!!1

Dubai is one of the places I would like to check out sometime. Sure it's in the middle east which isn't exactly the best area in the world right now. But just look at all the crazy stuff they have over there. They actually made islands in the shape of a palm tree. That's ridiculous. And how cool would it be to see the Burj Dubai (or whatever it's called now)? It would just be nice to get over there before the whole thing goes into the crapper. Which I think we all know will happen at some point.

Wait . . . What?

First off, not my picture (yeah, I'm too lazy to take one). But the thing in the picture is what I got going on. Yes, I am talking about the adorable dancing ladies figurine. Just kidding (but you could imagine how cool it would be to have that), I'm talking about the computer. Oh what is that you ask, what is that weird screen on that little computer? Well that my friends is what the cool kids call a "hackintosh". I know, that sounds so cool. Basically its a Dell mini10v that has the Mac OSX Snow Leopard operating system instead of Windows 7. Oh sure you could just keep Windows 7 on it and I'm sure your boyfriend would be impressed (mine was). But you would be stuck with the "starter" edition of Window 7. And that kind of sucks. You can't even change the background image. And everybody knows that if you want to be a hipster, you need Apple stuff. There is only one problem, Apple stuff is spendy. And they don't make a netbook (but what about the ipad?) I know what your thinking, don't you's guys already have a macbook? Yes, we do. But that's not the point. This thing only cost $335. Where the macbook is almost 4 times that. Zoinks. Yes . . . zoinks indeed. And there are times when even the macbook just seems too big to lug around. Anyway, it was a fairly easy installation since there are a bunch of guides and forums dedicated to just this. And yes, everything works as it should. Ok, I haven't tried everything. Like the VGA out to a monitor. But it serves its purpose, surfing the information superhighway. Although the trackpad is a little sketchy compared to the macbooks. That really is about the only complaint I have for it so far. And there are some fixes for that, so it's not too concerning. In closing, I hope the hipsters accept me now.

The obligatory Super Bowl post . . .

I'm not going to go through a down by down breakdown of the game because I'm sure everyone watched it. And if you didn't, is your tv broke? Actually, I just wanted a reason to post this picture. Talk about being in the right place at the right time with a camera. I don't know who took it but credit is due to them.

How's this make you feel?

What you're looking at here is 12 million years worth of galaxies, stars, and other space stuff (and good news, I didn't see the Death Star). And the picture is made up of a ton of smaller pictures from the Hubble, so you can zoom in pretty close. I can't even begin to wrap my head around this picture. Just think of the size of this. . . it's infinite. And they claim that it is still expanding. I'm not sure how "infinite" can be expanding, but it is apparently. The other crazy thing is that the light we're seeing is from 12 million years ago. Let that sink in a little. These things are so far away that it took 12 million years to get to us. Did you hear that? That was my mind being blown.
