Johnny Paycheck from prison

After watching a few more Johnny Paycheck videos, I ran across this one. This is from the concert he did while he was locked up at the Chillicothe Correctional Institute. And look who is introducing him, none other than Merle Haggard. Just take a listen to the song and I'm sure he didn't do some of the things he talks about but there may be some truth to it.

We got a guest that's hot . . . Oh damn!!1

Johnny Paycheck singing Slide Off Of Your Satin Sheets live. Dude. And how cool is the guy playing the slide guitar? Mustache, check. White leather jacket with fringe, check. A sweet hat that has something so good on it that it had to be covered with duct tape, check and check.

Really Green Day, Really?

I don't even know what to say. Sure Green Day was a good band. I even saw them live a few times (pre-American Idiot (more like they're the idiots, ha ha)) and they were pretty good. But who actually thought it was a good idea to make a Broadway show out of this? Just imagine the people who will pay money for this. What a bunch of chods.

OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!1! (ha, 4G)

Maybe you've seen this before, maybe not. But it's the latest (and greatest?!!) phone from HTC, the EVO 4G. And it's coming to Sprint. Yes, yes, yes. It would be nice if it was available around April 1st (when I'm eligible for the $150 off a new phone) but summer isn't that far away. You may be wondering about specs. How does a 1ghz Snapdragon grab ya? Or maybe dual cameras, a 8 megapixel one on back AND a 1.3 megapixel camera on front (you know for video conferencing). What about a 4.3 inch screen? Maybe HDMI output at 720p will tickle your fancy? It's got it all, and some other stuff. Oh and it has the latest version of Android, 2.1. So now it's just waiting for it to come out. Then I could upload HD movies from my phone to the blog. Won't that be exciting (that was sarcastic)?

We're Still (expletive deleted) Alive!!!!1!

Warning. Warning. This guy likes to use naughty words. But in his defense, it's needed. And it's pretty funny. On a related note, I read an article from Car and Driver and they claimed that the brakes can almost always overcome the engine. They tested this theory with a Camry, an Infiniti G37 convertible (not sure why it was a convertible, maybe it was a nice day), and a Roush Stage 3 Mustang. Each time the brakes overcame the engine, even from 100 mph. It did take 3 time longer (about 900 feet) to stop in the Mustang at that speed, but that also has 540 hp (last I checked the Prius wasn't close to that). And interestingly enough, the Infiniti had something (that apparently a lot of cars have) that when you hit the brakes, the throttle gets closed. Which makes sense, unless it closes every time you lightly touch the brakes. Then it seems a little ridiculous. Anyway, I figured this video is more fun than reading the article. Dirt

Saw this on the FTW blog today. Yeah, it's 10 minutes long but you really need to see the sweet footage starting around the 2:40 mark. Let me give you a taste, 3 wheel go-cart things, 4 wheel go-carts, 6 wheelers tearing through rivers and going through trees (and the dude kind of looks like Hurley (from Lost, like you didn't know)). If that isn't enough to make you watch this, I don't know if we can be friends.

Misery and Gin

Merle Haggard, Misery and Gin. First heard this song a few months ago (who knows, I probably heard it before and never paid attention) when we were watching "Bronco Billy". It's an old Clint Eastwood movie. In the movie (don't worry I won't give away too much of the story) Clint and his group go to a bar and Merle Haggard is singing this song. So, take a listen and you should probably just download it for 99 cents (the album version is better but I couldn't find it on Youtube). If nothing else, watch it for the clothing.

Are you sure Hank done it this way?

It's the same old tune, fiddle, and guitar. Where do we take it from here? Good question. And I don't think Hank done it this way. I hope you enjoy a little Waylon.

New Look

So I thought it would be nice to update the look of the blog (is it just a coincidence that I decided to do this today? hmmm. . .). I'd hate for it to get tired looking. And along with that, I'll post more (yeah, I've said that before). Probably starting tomorrow though.
